Converse One Star has evolved from the iconic All Star to meet the demands of higher quality basketball shoes, but hasn't quite caught on in the sport. They gained new popularity in the 1990s, when they could often be seen on the covers of Thrasher magazine as a popular shoe for skateboarders. But most notably they became part of the culture through their association with grunge music and Nirvana. In 1994, they became memorable thanks to Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's frontman, who was the last person to wear them.
Suede: leather cut from the back, while the fibers remain on the surface, suede is less prone to damage than nubuck.
Vulcanized: refers to a sole that is reinforced in exposed places and is aimed at maximum safety, so it is most often used in skateboard models.
