Half Cab is not just a name, but a tribute to skateboarding legend Steve Caballero. His signature ankle sneakers from Vans were so popular among skateboarders that when skateboarding began to transition from pools to the streets, many began cutting off the top of the sneakers for more mobility and using duct tape instead. This unconventional way of modifying the shoe led Steve Caballero, in collaboration with Vans, to come up with a new version of the sneaker, this time called the Half Cab.
